Mamu

The irony of life is that we fail to recognize the beauty of people when they are around and it suddenly dawns on us how special they were as soon as they are gone. I revisit my thoughts again and again and I am shocked at how little time I had spent acknowledging that Mamu was the most kind, calm, composed, content and sociable being I had known. Of course I was very close to him and I am inconsolable as I write this, but aside from the love and respect I personally had for him, he was this quiet but strong support for everyone whose lives he touched. He was there. No matter what. He read, watched, followed, admired a variety of subjects, adding a subtle color to his visibly sober personality. And his jokes were epic. His laugh too. My Mamu was very special. I am most sorry about the last days he spent sick. He certainly didn't deserve it and I hope this was a blissful release for him. As for us, it is a huge loss here in this lifetime. It is like an entire chapter coming to an end. Those treks to the confectionaries hunting for the best sweets, his visits when I worked in Delhi, lending his ears as I prepared for my big move to the US, being there.. just being there every single time I was back home. Well, I shouldn't even try to write about this, because these experiences and the place they hold in my life cannot be described with words. You will be missed Mamu, and never forgotten. So long!

I love this blog!
And I have probably said that many times. Almost every time I come back to this space after a long break.
The last year or so has been very grounding, and very beautifully so. Yoga is the new in thing. Oh and Ray LaMontagne, I never mentioned him on this blog. He is the single best singer ever.

We are so complex, each one of us. We have so many parts, so many sides. One may relate to a certain someone and another to someone else. And yet we muddle our way through life, holding on to our own ONE set of beliefs.

Just got back from a trip to Cork, it was amazing!

I was so lost when I first landed, and I just wanted to come back home. But thanks to the friendly Irish people, by the end of the five days I did not even want to come back.

Cork is a small city, but charming. Friendly people, fascinating bars, wonderful restaurants.
I'm not the picture clicking person when I'm traveling, especially if I'm really enjoying the experience. So listing down the places I loved (the pics are from the internet)....

Liberty Grill - tiny restaurant, great food, and charming ambience.

Electric - Pub downstairs, a nice restaurant on the second floor, best linguine ever and interesting local company!

A local Irish Bar (don't know the name) - Lots of beer, filled with locals, quiz night (I blurted out loud the one answer I knew, nice way to get noticed in an Irish bar)
Oliver Plunkett Bar - Elegant bar, fancy!

Market Lane - Classy restaurant with amazing food.

Advice from one of the senior leaders in the company.. eye opening.

"We know people who have the potential and we know who will be the leaders in the organization. If you are one of them you will get there but what is important is knowing what you want personally and that you enjoy the process of getting there."
